Rocky Jones

The last of the 50s rocket shows, ROCKY JONES, SPACE RANGER came along in 1954. ROCKY JONES was filmed, unlike SPACE PATROL and TOM CORBETT, and featured better special effects, better sets, and overall higher production values. Unfortunately, timing is everything and 1954 was signalling the fading of the space boom, and ROCKY lasted only 39 episodes. Of course, as a filmed program, it is better preserved than any of its contemporaries and the serial adventures of Rocky, Vina, Bobby, and Professor Newton are still with us.

Once the Rangers are in deep space, the instrument panels go wacky from a strange magnetic signal sending the crew into panic. Massive quantities of radiation on RV5 is only the first indication that alien minds are at work here. Will the Rangers be able to discover the problem before its too late? The Rangers drop off the diplomats and head for Paratang, where they will spend 72 hours relaxing. Meanwhile, Cleolanta is schemeing a devious plan to destroy the peace talks.
