Dr. Alex Zorka (Bela Lugosi), eccentric scientist, carries on mysterious experiments in his secret laboratory with the aid of Monk (Jack C. Smith), an ex-convict. Zorka has invented many strange and powerful weapons of warfare, including a devisualizer belt which allows him tooperate without being seen, and a terrifying mechanical robot eight feet tall. He also possesses a deadly meteorite fragment from which he extracts a strange element which can induce suspended animation in an entire army.
Foreign spies trying to buy or steal some of the marvelous element operate under the guise of a foreign language school. Since Zorka refuses to turn over his inventions to the U.S. Government, his former partner, Dr. Mallory (Edwin Stanley), reports the matter to Captain Bob West (Robert Kent), of the Military Intelligence Department. Zorka then moves his laboratory, and when his wife is accidentally killed, his swears eternal vengeance against society.
Drunk with the power of his inventions, he decides to use them to make himself world dictator. With the meteorite element, the devisualizer belt and the giant robot, he is a menace to world peace and has many spectacular battles and narrow escapes as spies and government agents trail him. Jean Drew (Dorothy Arnold), pretty girl reporter, aids police while covering the story for her newspaper.
Army planes finally boms Zorka's laboratory, but he escapes in a plane. Trapped, he dumps the meteorite element overboard, hoping to destroy the world with himself. An earthquake follows, but civilization is saved. West is rewarded by the government and Jean writes the greatest news story of the age.
